 | Hi, I'm Robert L. Young, a retired carpenter. Although I was in the building trade all my life, I've always had an interest in inventions. I built several prototypes over the years of many different things but have never cashed in on any of them for lack of funds or backing. Not that they were all great. At present I have 2 inventions that are shelved as well as this most resent one I call Magna-Bump. About 10 years ago I built one of these for my grand son out of a couple of magnets he got for his birthday. When I showed it to people, they were mesmerized by it but the magnets available then were still a little weak. A few months ago I began to revisit the idea again, to discover these, (new to me) Neodymium magnets. “Very powerful” they said. So I ordered some, built the first prototype to try it and Voile' … It not only worked but worked better then expected. Did a search on the internet and found out how to do a patent pending. And amazingly, I got one. Only $70. I've been building these prototypes one at a time in my garage out of sturdy aluminum. They look good and work perfectly. But have a few scratches from bending and forming the aluminum with regular tools. So far I have 22 of the handheld type and 22 of the tabletop type, made by hand, by me from custom cut and hand bent aluminum. They're held together by some very a strong mounting tape called VHB. Had to make some of the hand bending and cutting tools myself. I would like to have a strong plastic mold made for the pendulums and have them produced for me which would cut the production time and cost immensely. I will be giving these original prototypes for pledges dated, numbered and signed by me until the goal is reached. Once the plastic ones are made it’s production time … no more aluminum. So these will be limited. Could some day be collectors items. My wife and I live primarily on S.S. so raising these funds to continue is imperative. |
