Farms and Factories is a labor of love with a long history. Starting when I was in high school, the game originally consisted of handwritten rules on sticky notes placed onto playing cards. Even with its flaws everyone I introduced it to could see its potential. Designing and developing the game soon became a family affair. The first printed edition was designed by my dad, Brian Browning. I ordered two waves of copies totaling about 60 decks, that were quickly gobbled up by my relatives, friends, friends of friends or even strangers who liked the look of the game. We recruited a high school friend, Caitlin Hillyard, to create the iconic ink and watercolor art for the game. Unfortunately Brian passed away before he could see the final product, but in his place my sisters Amelia Browning and Lillian Browning took up the mantle, providing development and logistical support. In 2016 we had our first successful Kickstarter, raising money for the first official print run of the game with complete art, including a new back designed by Lillian Browning. Since then we have been working on both new games and potential expansions for Farms & Factories. I'm looking forward to the next project already!
