Trefor Jones is my name and the following explains a little about me.
All my early life was spent in the country regions, mostly in New South Wales. As a young lad I was like most boys, crazy about cars. I first become interested in trucks and the trucking industry as a teenager travelling along the highway on the school bus.
After School I joined the Navy and on occasions hitched a ride when on leave. I can still recall my first ride in a Semi Trailer at 18 years of age, an International â Single drive Prime Mover, hauling a flatbed trailer loaded with steel. The journey was from the Southern Highlands in NSW, back to the Naval base in Victoria where I was stationed. It was quite an experience and I was hooked. I can also recall my first ride with an Overnight Express run from Sydney to Brisbane. For those who know it, up the putty road. It was a white knuckle, wide eyed ride. I was too scared to close my eyes, but I was in awe of the driverâs skills.
Later on, I Eventually got into delivery, as a Sub Contractor delivering drinks. Yes this was a rigid flat bet but it was a beginning. From there it led to the Truck Hire industry where I got the opportunity to work with a range of trucks from small to medium flatbed and Pantech, also Prime Mover and trailers, alas nothing larger than a Semi combination. Many trips were made moving vehicles interstate and I got to understand the life of a truck driver.
There has always been a lack of understanding of the Trucking industry, as many will know, So I decided to create a board game to illustrate to people, what trucking was about, especially on the road. The bonus is, you can have great fun and entertainment learning or reliving life on the road.
I spent nearly 40 years in the Vehicle Rental Industry around trucks and cars. All of this has enabled me to create the board game LINEHAULER. |
