 | Hi there!
I am George and I am the founder and main designer of Whiztower printables. I have a background in mechanical engineering and design -more specifically machine and product design- and I am also an avid TT RPG player. For the past couple+ years I am a GM in a long weekly RPG campaign and have been printing and designing terrain and buildings for the game. We mainly used magnetic tiles (which we love) and 3D printed buildings.
After printing a ton of buildings, and realizing that I only used them once or twice in our sessions, while constantly reusing tiles, I came up with the idea of creating 3D printable "vertically assemblable" tiles, a.k.a 3D printable magnetic buildings. Through constant experimentation and playtesting, the magnetic tower system was developed.
Whiztower was created through the encouragement of my DnD friends (who are also my playtesters) who prompted me to commercialize the tower system. Through constant design-print-playtest loops the system was refined to the point were I feel confident in sharing it. Most components that you see are actually in their 3rd to 10th revision.
Finally, this is just the beginning; everything you see in this Kickstarter is modular and expandable. The biggest challenge was actually making sure that additional components can be developed (linear parts for houses, larger diameter floors etc.). If this goes well, additional sets will follow.
Thanks,
