 | The Quarles Bros grew up playing games together, along with our older brother and friends.
Everything was fair game, from TRS-80 text-based adventures, to anything our neighbors had for their Atari 2600, to Monopoly up through red box Basic Dungeons & Dragons.
Later, as adolescents, our choices expanded to Sierra On-Line adventures, NES/SNES, DOOM, and... Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, of course.
Into adulthood, we went to college for art and theatre, and pursued careers in graphic design and video game development. Of course, we kept right on gaming. Moving on to more sophisticated PC games and branching out into other, more esoteric RPGs, we finally began to discover the world of board gaming. You know, beyond Monopoly.
Besides all the gaming, we both have always had a creative itch to tell stories. We decided to combine these two interests in an effort to tell a compelling story through gaming, and Winter Night was born.
The Great Nameless is a vehicle to tell the broader story that we began to show with our point & click adventure, "Arkhangel: The House of the Seven Stars". We wanted to give screen time to the gods and mythology that we developed as a backdrop for that story of a family's loss and sacrifice. |
