 | My name is Wolfgang. I am 42 years old, a father of three sons, and married to a very, very patient woman. I come from a small town in Niederbayern, down in the Bavarian Forest. Red Horizon 41 is the first module in a new tactical wargame system (Assault) that simulates battles on the tactical level during the beginning phases of Operation Barbarossa in 1941.
I have been interested in tactical simulations since my school days and an early example of my interest is the playing of Gary Grigsby’s ‘Panzer Strike’ on the C64.
After concluding my military service in 2003 and during a vacation in the USA I purchased my first war-game board game, I played the system endlessly with friends and enjoyed the experience very much. Together with one of those friends, we started to design and build our own board games. We were enthusiastic about nearly every military epoch; from conquering Roman Legions through great Napoleonic cavalry charges to the present. A lot of time in our youth was spent dedicated to this fascinating hobby.
Naturally the idea was born to develop a new and unique tactical system set during World War 2. Our main aims for the system are a true and detailed historical feeling, short playing times and fun. |
