 | I'm an artist with a history of making watercolors and frolicking out in the sun on lovely spring days. I love ice cream and have a terrible time with questions about which kind is my favorite. Mint chocolate chip is nice, but triple chocolate is like heaven. I'm not a big fan of spumoni though. It's the maraschino cherries.
I love traveling. My favorite was traveling to Malaysia with my wife, Nina, whom I love dearly (we got married there in fact.) That was amazing. Oh Malaysia, I miss you.
Art making really is wonderful and I'm glad I've continued to pursue it throughout the years. It has been a rough journey at times. Circumstances and people can sometimes be very unruly and make dreams harder to achieve, but I've learned that to put diligent effort into what makes me feel alive is worth the struggle of dealing with life's setbacks. Even when I find myself needing other work to supplement, I am always eager and excited to get back to my real work. It informs me but doesn't define who I am. It is my gift and eventually I may even find a discipline to settle on. But for now I continue to just make whatever I put my hand to and choose not to worry about a more defined niche than just "artist". Table top games today and tomorrow perhaps I'll build another wooden sculpture. But I will certainly be an artist.
On a last little note. Even though I don't bring religious themes into my art (and have no intention to) I am deeply influenced by my admiration of the life of Christ. He is my inspiration to live in the freedom of faith that the Father will provide all things. There is so much acknowledgment that he deserves for the peace I have even when things don't go as planned. I would not be able to continue in the way that I do as an artist without his guidance. I believe that knowing him brings us to a greater understanding of ourselves and is the only way we can experience true freedom. |
