 | I started playing boardgames since 80's when I was in high school. Victory in the Pacific, Third Reich, Squad Leader & Titan are the games we played every week. I like playing games but like designing games more. I love those Japanese animes in my childhood & always dream of designing a board game for them. I finished my first board game design in the last year of my high school life. It's a simple anime-based wargame. With zero experience & skills at all, I drawed & colored the image on every counter one by one. The game looks good & was loved by my friends. We had many fun game sessions from it.
After getting married in 90's I stopped my board gaming life and switched to video games. I came back to the board game world after I discovered BGG in 2011. To my surprise, there are many new kinds of games l never heard of before. I started to learn more about Euro games, 4X games, worker placement games...I was so amazed by the bloom of board games that I decided to design more boardgames. Thanks to the invention of color laser printers & helphful DIY threads on BGG, I was able to complete my first print and play project in 2012. Up to now, I have designed more than ten boardgames for fun and sharing. Most of them received good comments.
I met a new friend in 2017 who suggested to make a boardgame for the Battle of Hong Kong. He said this battle was seldom mentioned by people in HK. Perhaps we can do something to recall people's attention to this precious history and commemorate the forgotten heroes who sacrificed their lives for Hong Kong. After intensive study of the battle, I finally developed a good game system which fits the battle and fun to play. With helps and encouragement from various people in Canada, USA and HK, I finally decided to try my first project on KS. |
