Gamma Grunts: A Deck Smash Game is the product of hard work and determination by HipLein Industries, a game development and publishing company founded in Columbus, Ohio January 2018. They are all about having fun and building new relationships through gaming. They have a history of high level competition in strategic games as well as casual, family friendly games. As a global citizen, HipLein Industries is committed to bringing joy and happiness to the world through gaming.
Towards the beginning of 2017, prior to starting HipLein Industries, friends Josh Hipsher and Kyle Boehnlein got together to create an experience through Gamma Grunts. This dynamic duo of lifelong gamers have labored to create an interesting and unique deck-building experience. Combining deck-building, politics and battle oriented interaction in a single game, HipLein Industries is making strides towards expanding hobby gaming for years to come.
About Josh Hipsher:
Born into a household focused on fun and the human connection through gaming, Josh Hipsher has always been around the game community. Whether it be hanging out with others or with the drive of competition, he has always strived for enjoying life with everything he does. Game creation and playing has been no different for him.
He grew up going to conventions like Origins Game Fair and Gencon with his family when he was a child. He would spend hours playing various games, while also taking time to volunteer. He started off volunteering for the conventions themselves, either working the merchandise booth or with the auction. Eventually he had to get in with some of the game companies. He has spent many conventions volunteering with Looney Labs, Japanime Games, and Cool Mini Or Not over the years. He got to hang out with other gamers from various walks of life while also learning about how gaming companies operate.
His favorite gaming moment is when he got third place at the Krosmaster National Championship at Board Game Geek Con 2015. This led him to the Krosmaster World Championship 2016 in Sevilla, Spain where he placed 13th in the World. The combination of community and competition was the best part of the tournament that really made the gaming community feel like we were all part of something bigger than ourselves.
Towards the beginning of 2017, after sitting on a couple of prototype games he worked on by himself, he approached Kyle Boehnlein with the proposal to work with him to create a battle oriented deckbuilder. Flash forward months later with hundreds of hours logged and we have Gamma Grunts: A Deck Smash Game. Now, not only are they creating games together but are also passionately publishing for the world to enjoy.
Whether it be playing or creating games, his one biggest passion is bringing people together to have fun.
About Kyle Boehnlein:
He grew up the same way many other gamers did, in a home with a loving family, but never feeling quite satisfied with his surroundings. Being naturally athletic thanks to the genetic lottery, he played sports when he was younger filling in his other time with playing games and creative writing.
Games played an enormous role in his youth filling his mind with great ideas with inspiration from various video and card games. These ideas have helped him continue into the creative and problem solving person he is today.
Forged in fire, electricity, and mud he became the confident man he is today. He did this by participating in competitive obstacle courses such as the Warrior Dash and Tough Mudder. He has learned to be confident in his abilities and that with hard work and determination nearly anything is possible.
With his newfound confidence he realized the only thing getting in his way was himself so he stepped aside and let his success speak for itself.
He met Joshua through the game Krosmaster, one of their mutual favorite board games. Ever since then he has been a happy friend and now business partner. He works well with Josh and at times is almost as if they have the same mind. Together, he believes they will make the world a better place through their game designs.
In his mind, success isn't an option, it is an end result. Through hard work and determination he will build his world and share it with everyone else. |
