 | Involved in martial arts since he was four years old, Sheldon lived his life as an athlete and fighter learning the arts of Kyokushin, Hapkido, KenpÅ, Ninjutsu, Aiki-jÅ«jutsu, weapons training, tactical combat and defense.
Sheldon was first introduced to Jiu Jitsu by his good friend, Mike Ortiz. His world was capsized when he realized how incomplete his years of training were without a ground game. Everything he knew up until that point felt incomplete like half a story with no ending. Ortiz helped reshape his world by showing him the deeply humbling art that permanently changed his perspective.
There was an obvious difference between this martial art and the rest that taught Sheldon more about himself than any other martial art. Using whole body integration, itâs the only martial art that you can assert 100% of your skill set without holding back, if it is too much pressure for someone to handle then they submit and tap out. There was something about this discipline that shook the foundation of who he was.
Jiu Jitsu rapidly established itself as his own benchmark of spiritual, physical and mental growth. BJJ increasingly altered Sheldonâs way of life and sense of self. And he wasnât the only one; Jiu Jitsu has become one of the fastest growing sports on the planet.
Sheldon then began his lifelong Jiu Jitsu journey with his first steady instructor, Dan Howard under Jean Jacques Machado. Then when he moved, his journey continued under the instruction of Tim Peterson with the UCLA Jiu Jitsu team which grew and blossomed into Robot BJJ under Wander Braga and later One Jiu Jitsu under Giva Santana, and currently M3 Fight & Fitness with Danny Vaughan.
Aside from the world of combat, Sheldon has been on his own since 17, carving a customized life of hard work and astute creativity. He is the purveyor of many projects and although this is not his first successful creation, this project is most near and dear to his heart. |
