 | Hi!
I'm Thomas Wood-Walsh, the creator of Fisticuffs Club. I have always loved games from my very first Nintendo playing countless hours of duck hunt, Mario bros and legend of Zelda, but to be honest I was too young and not very good at them! lol. But most of all I loved playing board games, I can remember many happy times where I would play Monopoly with my grandparents, I would always win of course... but I did always cheat too! I'm sure they knew but let me win anyways lol. One game however was checkers. My grandfather loved checkers and he never took it easy on me, for years and years I would lose to him, until one day I won! That is always a memorable day when the student defeats the master!
Later on in life I would go to school for game design at Algonquin College in Ottawa, Ontario. I began working as a Game Tester in Montreal, Quebec where I was able to test multiple games from all the major companies in the area and later I became a game programmer at a company called Fuel Industries back in Ottawa. Inevitably I began working as a programmer in the House of Commons and that is where I am currently working today. But I never lost my love of games and board games, I have many board games and before the pandemic would host board game night almost every week. I have always dreamt about releasing a game of my own and Fisticuffs Club is my first public creation. I wanted to create a very simple game that everyone could just pick up and play, where the rules are simple and it is easy to learn and understand. Easy to pick up and go, take it camping or on long trips. Just like checkers.
I hope that everyone will enjoy this game, it has been a long process but we are finally releasing it! |
