 | My name is Tief, and I am an illustrator in the experimental stage of life! Iâm currently undergoing an Illustration and Animation course while living and working in the West Midlands, but in all honesty Iâm just a weirdo who knows how to use Procreate!
Iâve been drawing an painting for as long as I can remember, one of my momâs favourite things to tell strangers is how every teacher from nursery up until high school would always tell her the same thing: âshe just doesnât stop drawing does she?â Now Iâm sure in my more academic subjects this posed an issue, but I always managed to balance my doodles with distinctions, leading to where I am today as a professional illustrator on the rise!
I have always been the most focused on and interested in character design; being equally as much a reader as a drawer, my love for fantasy novels meant my teens were spent bringing cool and magnificent characters to life! Nowadays my preferred genres have changed, but the passion for design has stayed the same, and still my favourite think to do is pull people and creatures out of my head and create them on the page (or screen.)
Since coming to university, Iâve gone fully digital and the possibilities of where my work can go have been expanded! Iâve been able to start selling my work online, and not just to people I know; opening my commissions has meant my work is shared in places I donât even know about, by people who have been generous enough to request my skills. During what has been such a detrimental year, my customers have been my lifeline and helped me, not only financially, but also to develop my work and try new things that I wouldnât have thought about myself! I will always appreciate those who support artists when they need it the most!
Usually my inspiration for work comes from video games, music, my friends, and pets who serve as both mental stimulation and inspiration! After spending a year inside, itâs been a struggle to find motivation when our world has become so small, but I have persisted and carried on, and as we reach what might be the end of this nightmarish time, I canât wait to see what the world has for me, and what I can give to it.
